Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has struggled to find his form at the start of the 2016/17 campaign.
Tottenham’s Harry Kane in action
Former Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino has offered his opinion on Tottenham and England star Harry Kane, when writing his column for the Times, explaining how he feels the 23-year-old has lost his edge, reported via the Evening Standard.
Kane has struggled at the start of the 2016/17 campaign for club and country, the same way in which he did last season, and Cascarino feels there is something missing with the Spurs striker:
“Harry Kane is not right at the moment. He has lost his ability to run the channel and is losing foot races – he wasn’t doing that 18 months ago when he burst onto the scene with Tottenham Hotspur and England.”
Tottenham’s Harry Kane is substituted
There is certainly a case to be made that Kane is jaded, after playing every Premier League game for Spurs last season on top of seven Europa League appearances, five domestic cup games and his participation in every game of England’s doomed Euro 2016 campaign.
Cascarino outlined in his column for the Times how Kane does not seem to be offering the same threat that he did last year, reported via the Evening Standard:
Harry Kane has failed to score so far this season
“He has not got blistering pace and never will have – but he is a strong runner who can keep a centre back honest. For some reason he is not the same menace as he was.”
It was exactly a year ago to the day that Kane scored his first goal of last season in England’s 6-0 win over San Marino, and he didn’t look back as he went on to win the Premier League’s Golden Boot with 25 goals.
Spurs and England fans will be hoping that he can rediscover his form sooner rather than later, and prove that he is still one of the best strikers in the game.
