Birmingham City need to improve in the attacking areas of the pitch if they are to make progress next season.
Ciprian Marica is available on a free transfer
Birmingham City are a club in desperate need of at least one quality striker to supplement their squad, as they look to improve on last season’s respectable 10th place finish in the Championship.
They head into the new season with only three recognised forwards, who between them scored just 11 goals in the league last term.
A terrific option for the Blues would be Romanian centre-forward Ciprian Marica, who is currently available on a free transfer following his release from Steaua Bucharest.
Marica would be a fantastic addition to the Birmingham squad
He was allegedly targeted by Premier League clubs three summers ago when his contract had expired with German side Schalke, before eventually moving to Getafe.
Standing at 6 ft 1 in, Marica is a physically imposing forward, with fantastic aerial ability and wonderful composure in front of goal. He achieved 69 caps for Romania, and his tally of 25 goals for his country are evidence of his ability.
Marica has 69 caps for his country
He would be a superb addition to the Birmingham side and would provide them with a fantastic focal point to base their attacks around. Their record of 53 goals in 46 Championship games last term highlights their frailties in forward areas, and is something they absolutely have to improve on if they aspire to reach the play-off positions.
Marica could provide them with an added goal threat, should a move come to fruition, and is a player that the Birmingham hierarchy should seriously consider.
