Reports emanating from France claim that Aston Villa are one of five clubs closely monitoring Bordeaux’s Uruguayan striker Diego Rolan, according to French sports publication RMC Sport.
RMC go on to claim that Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Norwich City and Brighton & Hove Albion are the other four clubs believed to be monitoring the forward, but Villa’s interest is thought to be more deep-rooted after the Midlands outfit were linked with a move for Rolan earlier in the summer.

He has 17 caps for the Uruguay national team to his name, and with the likes of Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani as competition, that is no mean feat at the age of just 23.

Rolan can play as an out-and-out striker, or just behind the front man in a number 10 role, and his ability and craft in the final third would bring so much to the Villa side, should a move come to fruition.
He has began the 2016/17 season in impressive fashion, scoring two goals in three league outings for Bordeaux.
With the calibre of the club’s reported to be interested in Rolan, Villa will have to pull out all the stops to tempt him into moving to the club.
