Romelu Lukaku’s very first comments after signing for Everton, suggest it was his plan to leave Goodison Park this season all along.

Lukaku has recently hit the headlines, after hinting that he will not pen a new contract at Goodison Park.

The Belgian international was expected to sign fresh terms at the Merseyside outfit, but his future now appears to be in doubt.

And Lukaku’s plan to leave Everton appears to have been set out since the minute he signed for them back in 2013.

“Look at the players who came from here and went to a big club – Rodwell, Fellaini, Rooney,” Lukaku told the Daily Star, in his first interview after joining Everton. “[They are] Good players have stayed here a year, maybe two or three, and gone on to a big team. Hopefully it will be the same for me.”

Lukaku is now said to want a move to a club in the Champions League, with a number of teams across Europe monitoring his situation.

Real Madrid, PSG and Manchester United have all been linked with the 23-year-old in recent times.

Everton are understood to be keen to keep hold of Lukaku, but with his current deal due to expire in 2018, they are likely to face a real battle.

Lukaku has netted 19 Premier League goals so far this season, which puts him at the top of the division’s scoring charts.
