Arsenal fans lauded Liverpool winger, Xherdan Shaqiri. after he scored a brace for Switzerland as they beat Turkey 3-1 at Euro 2020 on Sunday.
The Swiss needed a win to keep their hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages alive, and Liverpool’s left-footed trickster stepped up in big style.
With Arsenal midfielder, Granit Xhaka, bossing proceedings in the middle of the park, it was Shaqiri who produced the magic in the final third.
His opening goal was another major tournament worldie from the Liverpool man, as he curled his effort, on his weaker foot, from outside of the area in the first half.
Shaqiri may have endured difficult times in the colours of Liverpool in recent seasons, but when it comes to his country, he certainly turns up – and he loves a tournament goal.
And with Arsenal fans keeping a close eye on Xhaka in the middle of the park, it was Shaqiri who stood out for them out on the flanks.
Whilst the Swiss picked up three points, they have finished third in Group A, with table-toppers Italy and Wales progressing.
Now, Shaqiri and Co. will have to wait and see if they have done enough to progress through as one of the four best third-placed teams.
