Speaking on BT Sport’s YouTube channel, Aaron Ramsdale has named Martin Odegaard as the best player in Arsenal training.

The goalkeeper was filming a segment alongside Peter Crouch, and the former Liverpool striker wanted to know which player is the standout performer when it comes to training at London Colney.

Kieran Tierney named Emile Smith Rowe as the best trainer at the club earlier this month, but Ramsdale claims that the captain is undoubtedly the most impressive player when it comes to training.

Odegaard is the top dog

Ramsdale discussed the Norwegian and his performances behind closed doors.

“Who would you say is the best trainer?” Crouch asked.

“Martin Odegaard is always on it,” Ramsdale replied.

“Yeah, he’s a modern captain, he’s a modern-day captain. He’s probably one of the first five in the building and one of the last five out and on the pitch he’s never going to hide or shrink from a challenge so he’s the first person we look to.”

Leading by example

These comments just go to show why Martin Odegaard is the captain of Arsenal Football Club.

The Norwegian may not be the most vocal or imposing player on a football pitch, but he works as hard as anyone else and having been around the Real Madrid camp from the age of 16, he knows what excellence looks like.

Odegaard sets the standards at Arsenal, and if every other player abides to those standards, then the Gunners won’t go too far wrong.

Arsenal are one of the youngest squads around, and while Odegaard himself is no veteran at the age of just 23, he has a breadth of experience that even the most seasoned players can learn from. After all, he has been playing senior football since the age of 15.
