Eddie Nketiah told Sky Sports ‘it’s always nice to score against your old club’ after he did just that for Arsenal against Leeds on Tuesday night.
The Gunners beat Leeds 2-0 in the EFL Cup, with Nketiah netting the second goal of the game, after Calum Chambers’ opener.
The season Leeds earned promotion to the Premier League, Nketiah spent a six-month period on-loan at the club, from the summer until January.
But, with Marcelo Bielsa continually playing Patrick Bamford, it meant that his loan spell was cut short and he returned to North London.
After scoring against them last night, he was asked the following question by a Sky reporter:
‘On how big a moment that was for him getting the winning goal against a club that he has been on loan at?’
“It’s always nice to play, it has been a while,” said Nketiah. “I am working hard. I have been waiting for my opportunity.
“It’s always nice to score against your old club. But the most important thing was to get through the next round, which we did.”

Bielsa may have been harsh by not handing Nketiah more minutes during his days in the Championship, because he was having several strong impacts whenever he was handed minutes.
But, at the end of the day, Bielsa’s target was to help Leeds earn promotion.
And the Whites did just that, with Bamford leading the line and producing the goods for his side.
Since then, the ex-Chelsea man has gone on to make his England debut and he will be hoping to add more caps to his name during these coming years.
