Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to react after hearing that Ivan Perisic would favour a move to Antonio Conte’s side.
Speculation is mounting that the Tottenham manager is interested in re-signing the player he worked with at Inter Milan.
It was reported in midweek [L’Interista] that Spurs have already began talking to the 32-year-old winger about a transfer to North London in the January window.
And suffice to say that some Lilywhites supporters are absolutely loving the potential of seeing him and Conte reunited, after hearing Inter Live suggest that he’s game for it.
Here’s their reaction to the gossip:
Could Perisic be a wasteful signing for Tottenham?
Well, there’s just no escaping the fact that the jet-heeled Croatia international is a 32-year-old these days and talented as he was during his pomp, decline is inevitable for Perisic.
Nineteen games across all competitions has yielded only three goals and that illustrates that maybe, just maybe, Perisic is potentially past his best, regardless of how the Spurs manager reportedly feels about him.
Paratici must locate a stronger calibre of footballer
Easier said than accomplished, absolutely, but Fabio Paratici and Conte have major aspirations in North London – or one would possibly assume.
And to be perfectly blunt, signing Perisic does quite honestly feel like a step backwards for Tottenham Hotspur, should it materialise.
Honestly, this transfer would’ve made a thousand times more sense a couple of years ago but, at the moment, Conte and Paratici can do better.
Whatever money that chairman Daniel Levy dishes out to the Italians in January has to be invested brilliantly.
Tottenham are only five points adrift of a Champions League qualification spot with a couple of matches in hand, underlining the importance of spending wisely when the window is open for business once again.
