Bukayo Saka has praised reported Tottenham target, Raheem Sterling, for ‘playing really well’ at Euro 2020, as he told his press conference.

The 19-year-old claimed that Sterling is ‘always going to push me to want to play well’ because of the fierce competition in England’s forward areas.

Sterling, 26, who could be used in a potential transfer that could see Harry Kane swap Tottenham for Man City this summer (Telegraph), has scored two goals at Euro 2020.

But on Tuesday, Saka, who was handed his first start of the tournament against the Czech Republic, produced a Man of the Match display and the Arsenal man spoke about the healthy competition with the likes of Sterling.

“This is better,” said Saka. “It makes us push each other more. In training, you have to train hard and that always improves you.

“All competition is healthy competition and it pushes us always to make sure we give our best on the pitch, and that’s always going to be better for our country.

“As you can see, Raheem, he’s playing really well and scoring goals for us. That’s always going to push me to want to play well, so I can get into the team”

Sterling didn’t have the best of seasons in Man City colours recently, but he’s making himself heard on the international stage.

It will be interesting to see what exactly happens with his future this summer because his lack of game time at the Etihad has seemingly made him ‘unhappy’.

And with Man City lurking for Kane’s signature, it would be one of the biggest talking points of the summer if he does indeed be part of a deal that sees him swap Manchester for Hotspur Way.
