Eric Dier has been speaking to Tottenham’s official website about the club’s latest recruits, and how they’ve settled in at Hotspur Way.
What’s the story?
Well, Dier commented on Emerson Royal, Bryan Gil and Cristian Romero, while also showering Pierluigi Gollini in praise.
Despite failing to play a single second of Premier League football under Nuno Espirito Santo so far, it seems the Italian has made a big impression.
Dier said: “Pier’s been amazing. It was probably easier for him to settle because he speaks really good English and has been in England before. He brings great energy to the dressing room, great energy to training, always giving 100 per cent, which isn’t always easy for goalkeepers if they’re not playing all the time, but his commitment in training and commitment to get better is fantastic.
“He’s another big character and he brings a lot to the dressing room, during the week, matchday, and he’s settled in so quickly. Nothing but positives.”
Goalkeepers are often a charismatic bunch, and it sounds as if Gollini is no different.
It’s pleasing to hear that, despite no Premier League action, the 26-year-old is still maintaining a positive outlook and isn’t causing disruption to the squad.
Hopefully, Spurs can stay in the Conference League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup for as long as possible, so Gollini gets as much game time as he can.
Should Hugo Lloris continue to shut Pierluigi Gollini out at Tottenham?

From our point of view, it doesn’t really make sense to sign a goalkeeper on a season-long loan, and have him act as No.2 for the entire campaign.
How is Nuno going to be able to make a proper decision on him when Spurs are forced to decide on Gollini’s option to buy clause?
In our view, a handful of cup appearances here and there aren’t enough to see if the ex-Aston Villa man can guard the net for an entire season.
So far, he has made just five appearances, all in cup competitions.

In that respect, should Nuno give Gollini an extended run in the starting XI for Premier League games?
The Frenchman is 34 now, and his contract expires in June.
If Tottenham have no plans to extend the deal, then it makes sense to give Gollini some opportunities, in our view.
