Aaron Cresswell joined West Ham United from Ipswich Town in the summer of 2014.
Alvin Martin admitted his surprise on the Drivetime show on talkSPORT on Friday evening (November 20) that no club went in for defender Aaron Cresswell sooner.
Cresswell, who has now established himself as one of best left-backs in the Premier League, joined West Ham United in the summer of 2014.
The 25-year-old started his career at Tranmere Rovers before moving to Ipswich Town in 2011.
Former West Ham defender Martin has admitted that he was surprised that it took so long for a Premier League club to recognise the quality of Cresswell.
“He was at Ipswich, he played a fair while at Ipswich,” said Martin on the Drivetime show on talkSPORT on Friday evening (November 20). “I am surprised no one went in earlier to get Aaron Cresswell.”
Cresswell was one of West Ham’s best players last season and one of best left-backs in the Premier League.
The Englishman scored two goals and created 34 chances in 38 league appearances during the 2014-15 campaign.
The former Ipswich star had a pass accuracy of 73% and a shot accuracy of 53%, and won 52 headers, 17 dribbles and 31 tackles.
So far this season, Cresswell has created 17 chances in 13 Premier League matches. The West Ham star has a pass accuracy of 81% and a shot accuracy of 29%, and has won 19 headers, five dribbles and eight tackles.
