Alternate Championship summer signings XI featuring 3 Hull City newcomers

Having put together an XI four days ago, HITC Sport looks at an alternate Championship summer signings XI which doesn’t include loan signings.

Arijanet Muric – Burnley

After a raft of loan spells away from Manchester City, the Kosovo international has been brought to Turf Moor by his former Citizens captain Vincent Kompany.

The 23-year-old spent last season on loan at Turkish side Adana Demirspor and made four Championship appearances for Nottingham Forest during a season-long loan at the City Ground in 2019-20.

Tasked with filling the void and presence left behind by Nick Pope, Muric will be hoping to repay the faith entrusted im him by Kompany. The Clarets paid the reigning Premier League champions £3m to sign the stopper.

Harry Darling – Swansea City

Following an impressive 18 months at MK Dons, the former Cambridge United centre-back has reunited with former Dons boss Russell Martin at the Liberty Stadium.

The 22-year-old could chip in with some crucial goals for the Swans and he showed his goalscoring credentials last season, scoring 10 goals across all competitions.

Darling was named in the 2021-22 League One team of the season as well as winning the players’ player of the year prize at the Stadium MK.

Luke McNally – Burnley

The Clarets paid Oxford United £1.6m to bring the Republic of Ireland man to Turf Moor. The 22-year-old made 35 appearances for the U’s last season.

McNally, who spent 18 months with the League One side following a move from League of Ireland side St Patrick’s, will be hoping to establish himself as a starter under his Belgian boss.

Darragh Lenihan – Middlesbrough

After over seven years at Ewood Park with Blackburn Rovers, the three-time Republic of Ireland international has joined Chris Wilder’s Boro on a free transfer.

Having made 252 appearances for Rovers, Lenihan will bring a wealth of experience to the Riverside Stadium.

Allahyar Sayyadmanesh – Hull City

Having spent the second half of last season on loan at the Tigers, the Iran international has moved to the KCOM Stadium on a permanent deal from Fenerbahce.

Sayyadmanesh scored one goal in 12 appearances under Shota Arveladze, but he’ll be hoping to kick on during the 2022-23 campaign.

Gabriel Sara – Norwich City

The Canaries splashed out in excess of £10m to bring the Brazilian to Carrow Road from Sau Paulo.

Dean Smith will be hoping the 23-year-old can inject some Brazilian flair to his midfield and prove a vital cog in sealing an immediate back up to the Premier League.

Sara made 113 appearances for his former employers from which he scored 17 goals and provided nine assists.

Josh Cullen – Burnley

The former West Ham youngster has followed Kompany to Turf Moor after their time together at Anderlecht.

Cullen will be well aware of the former Manchester City captain’s methods and the 20-time Ireland international has prior Championship experience following loan spells with Bolton Wanderers and Charlton Athletic.

Ozan Tufan – Hull City

The 65-time Turkey international, who spent part of last season on loan at Watford, has joined Hull on a permanent deal from Istanbul giants Fenerbahce.

The 27-year-old has a wealth of experience and he’ll be looking to showcase his technical qualities in the Championship engine room for the Tigers.

Dogukan Sinik – Hull City

Acun Ilicali’s Turkish revolution at Hull City is well underway and Sinik is another Turkey international who has made the move to Yorkshire.

The versatile winger signed from Turkish top flight side Antalyaspor and he’ll be looking to add quality, goals and creativity from the flanks.

Vakoun Bayo – Watford

During his loan spell with Belgian Juplier Pro League side RSC Charleroi, Bayo scored 11 goals and provided two assists from 16 games.

With Emmanuel Dennis and Ismaïla Sarr likely to depart Vicarage Road before the summer transfer window closes, the Hornets will be hoping the two-time Ivory Coast international can hit the ground running in the Championship.

The 25-year-old spent 18 months at Celtic earlier in his career and played under Neil Lennon and Brendan Rodgers.

Carlton Morris – Luton Town

The Hatters have signed Morris, who scored seven Championship goals in each of his last two campaigns, from Barnsley.

At the age of 26, the former England Under-19 international will be looking to elevate his career to the next level and be reaching double figures in his first season at Kenilworth Road.
