The Liverpool midfielder received big praise today from Alan Shearer.

Alan Shearer spoke exclusively to the Sun about Liverpool’s excellent season thus far, and highlighted Gini Wijnaldum as a key player for Jürgen Klopp’s side, labelling him as ‘absolutely sensational’.
The Dutchman joined the Reds from Newcastle United in the summer of 2016, for a fee believed to be worth somewhere in the region of £25 million, and he has proven to be worth every penny.
Wijnaldum has been in wonderful form for Liverpool this season, appearing in all but one of his side’s 20 Premier League games thus far, and his energy and drive from the middle of the park has proven to be crucial to the high-octane style in which Klopp’s side like to play.
Shearer is certainly a big fan of the 28-year-old midfielder.
The Newcastle legend told the Sun how a lot of the work that Wijnaldum does goes unappreciated, suggesting that he is a key player for Liverpool:

“One player who will be key for Liverpool is Gini Wijnaldum. He doesn’t get as much praise as he should. But Wijnaldum has been absolutely sensational — bossing the midfield in every game I have seen. He is to Liverpool what Brazilian Fernandinho is to City. It was noticeable how Klopp took him off once the game was won on Saturday to give him a breather.”
Liverpool currently sit seven points clear at the top of the Premier League table, and they are now the clear favourites to win the league.
If they are to see the job through, however, every single one of their players will have to perform to their maximum ability between now and May, and Klopp will be hoping that Wijnaldum continues to epitomise everything that being a Liverpool player should entail.
