Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast, Duncan Castles has shared Aston Villa’s five-point transfer plan after signing Emi Buendia from Norwich.
The Villans look to be set for a busy summer, and they’ve started their work very early, bringing Buendia in for a club-record fee.
However, it seems as though they’re not done yet, with Castles claiming that Villa are looking at five more.

Castles claims that Villa want to bolster a number of different positions in the summer window.
“They’re looking at other attacking midfielders as well. One of the players they’ve sounded out is Emile Smith Rowe at Arsenal, who broke into the Arsenal team with great effect this season. He is under contract until 2023, so something needs to be done by Arsenal to extend that deal or seeing him being tempted by other clubs. It would be damaging to Arsenal if they lost a young talent like that to a club like Aston Villa, but it’s telling of the ambitions Villa have for this coming season,” Castles said.
“They’re also looking for a striker, someone who could act as a backup or an alternative to Ollie Watkins, a winger, a centre-back and a backup goalkeeper.”
Exciting summer ahead
It seems as though Villa are in line for an exciting summer.
The Midlands club have been free-spending since their return to the Premier League, and it seems as though we may be in for more of the same this summer.
Who will these players be? Well at the moment we can’t be sure, but the link to Smith Rowe is certainly interesting, and as Castles says, it’s indicative of Villa’s ambitions heading into the 2021/22 season.
