Sunderland are already trying to sign one Newcastle United talent this winter.

Sunderland are already sniffing around local rivals Newcastle United for talent in January, according to reports.
The Chronicle claims Newcastle winger Alex Gilliead is a loan target for new Sunderland boss Chris Coleman – presumably to cover Duncan Watmore’s injury – having impressed at Bradford City this season.

But why stop there? After all, Watmore’s position is not the only one in need of attention this winter, and a new goalkeeper should be at the forefront of Coleman’s plans given Robbin Ruiter’s recent poor form and that of Jason Steele before then.
According to the Chronicle, they could be in luck, with Newcastle reportedly ready to loan Freddie Woodman to a club in the Football League.

Though controversial, a move for Woodman could have mutual benefits: Sunderland get one of the country’s top talents within budget; Newcastle, in theory, get a better player back; Woodman gains vital experience… without having to spend the next six months living out of his suitcase in a Holiday Inn.
Should Newcastle loan Woodman to Sunderland in January?
