
Tottenham Hotspur reportedly still want Emerson Royal in North London.
Mundo Deportivo reported this weekend that Spurs boss Jose Mourinho has once again asked the club’s hierarchy to sign the Brazilian right-back this summer.
The report adds that Mourinho wanted the Real Betis defender – who is co-owned by Barcelona – at Tottenham last year too but financial issues stemming from the pandemic made it a difficult one to pull off.
But despite signing Matt Doherty instead, the Lilywhites still desperately need a new right-back again because, well, the Irishman and Serge Aurier haven’t acquitted themselves all that well this season.
Thing is, Mourinho might not even be in North London come next season.
If Tottenham fail to beat Manchester City in the League Cup final and finish outside the top four, both of which are very likely scenarios, then chairman Daniel Levy could well cut ties with the Portuguese.
