Glenn Hoddle was impressed by how Wataru Endo ‘already looked at home’ even before he could make his Liverpool debut.

The England legend noticed how ‘nice’ and ‘casual’ Wataru Endo looked as he tried to make himself at home following his transfer from Stuttgart.

After throwing big-money, and failing, to sign the likes of Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo, the club then turned their attention to the 30-year-old and Hoddle shared how it would have been an ‘easy’ call for the midfielder, as he told Premier League Productions (19/08/23 at 2:15 pm).

After losing Jordan Henderson and Fabinho to the Saudi Pro League, Liverpool have been in search of that defensive-minded midfielder.

Well, after the hour mark of Liverpool’s 3-1 win over Bournemouth, which also saw Alexis Mac Allister sent off, Endo was introduced into the action.

But Hoddle was impressed by what he saw from the Japan international behind-the-scenes at Anfield, as footage emerged of him around the stadium, the training ground and meeting the manager, Jurgen Klopp.

“He looks an experienced lad, the way he is talking English straight away,” said Hoddle. “He looks like one that will come in and be at home straight away.

“You can tell that. In 24 hours, he had to decide whether or not he is going to sign for Liverpool. That’s probably an easy call.

“He has come in, nice and casual. On the pitch. He has a photo done at the tunnel there. He just looks at home, already.”

Endo a much-needed buy

Endo is a very energetic player, who is very good at reading danger and leading from the middle of the park.

That’s exactly what Liverpool are crying out for, especially given that their backline isn’t performing as strongly as it should be.

Both need one another to perform back to their best again because the forward line is already doing its business, it’s just a case of the rest of the team joining them.
