Alphonso Davies is set to be fit in time for the 2022 FIFA World Cup after an injury update from Bayern Munich confirmed that the fullback will return in time for Canada’s voyage to Qatar.
The Bundesliga giants confirmed on their official website that the 22-year-old superstar will recover in time to feature for Qatar in the World Cup, with many Canada fans worried that Davies might have been ruled out of the competition after picking up a hamstring injury this weekend for Bayern.
The fullback went down against Hertha Berlin and was substituted off with a suspect injury that had the potential to rule Davies out of the World Cup. However, early test results have shown that the former Vancouver Whitecaps star will only miss Bayern’s last two Bundesliga games before the World Cup break.
This injury update to Davies will be a huge sigh of relief for Canada, who are set to compete in their first World Cup this century with the North American nation enjoying a golden generation ahead of their trip to Qatar, where they will face the likes of Belgium and the 2018 runners-up, Croatia.

With Davies now fit, the Canucks will be hopeful that other star players don’t suffer similar injury scares, with Jonathan David one of the most in-form attackers in all of Europe this season and Stephen Eustaquio enjoying a breakout year with FC Porto.
Indeed, Canada are very much one of the underdogs at this edition of the World Cup, and with Davies now set to be fit, manager John Herdman could have a fully-fit squad for the competition that could put the Maple Leafs on the footballing map if the can cause an upset in Qatar.
Alphonso Davies injury update is huge for the World Cup

Davies heads into Qatar as the poster boy for Canada, and the attacker now being expected to feature in the competition after this weekend’s injury scare is a huge boost for the entire competition, with star players dropping like flies due to the strain of the revamped footballing schedule.
With this week alone seeing Ben Chilwell and Timo Werner rule themselves out of the World Cup, Davies making the grade is the sort of good news football fans needed ahead of the competition, where many supporters will be hoping for Canada to cause an upset out in the Middle East.
