Glenn Murray has backed Tottenham Hotspur for another top-four Premier League finish in the 2022/23 campaign, as Antonio Conte’s attacking strength is ‘almost unmatchable’.

‘Almost unmatchable’ Tottenham attack to claim another top-four finish

Glenn Murray has told BBC Sport that Antonio Conte will lead Tottenham Hotspur to third place in the new Premier League season. The former Brighton & Hove Albion forward feels the Italian can now build on last term’s fourth-place finish with the depth he has acquired.

Conte replaced Nuno Espirito Santo at the helm of the north Londoners in November with Spurs ninth in the standings. The club had only won five of their opening 10 fixtures under the Portuguese to five defeats, and had a goal difference of minus-seven with nine scored.

Yet Tottenham ended the season pipping Arsenal to a top-four finish by two points. Conte oversaw 17 wins and five draws over his 28 games in charge, whilst seeing his stars hit 60 goals to 24 conceded. Only Manchester City (73) and Liverpool (70) took more points (56).

Spurs have backed Antonio Conte in summer transfer market

Tottenham have backed Conte in the transfer market so far this summer to now assemble a squad to push with. Ivan Perisic has joined in a Bosman transfer after his contract at Inter Milan expired in June. Fraser Forster also arrived after his contract at Southampton lapsed.

Spurs have also paid Brighton & Hove Albion £25m, rising to £35m, for Yves Bissouma, and paid Everton £50m, rising to £60m, for Richarlison. Djed Spence arrived in the capital from Middlesbrough for £12.5m, rising to £20m, and Clement Lenglet is on loan from Barcelona.

Richarlison joined an attacking unit that already boasted Harry Kane, Dejan Kulusevski and last season’s joint-Premier League Golden Boot winner, Son Heung-Min. Murray feels that quartet is hard for any side to now rival, and tips Conte to get Tottenham a top-four finish.

“We’ve already seen Tottenham’s progress since Antonio Conte took charge in November, and you know he will get them working hard again,” Murray predicted. “Their firepower is almost unmatchable and his style of play is very structured – they won’t let many goals in.”
