Ragnar Klavan has been speaking to Kalev Kruus on YouTube about his time at Liverpool, and he’s shared an interesting tale.
What’s the story?
Well, Klavan claims that Jürgen Klopp and James Milner nearly became embroiled in a fight around the festive period back in 2016.
The Estonian said at 42:34: “I don’t remember who we played against, maybe it was against Sunderland. Klopp and James Milner almost started a physical fight. Eventually Milner stepped back. We saw from his eyes that Klopp would’ve gone all the way to prove his point.”
We weren’t expecting that!
Milner often comes across as something of a mini-Klopp – the 35-year-old is a model professional, and one you’d expect to become a manager one day.
In that respect, it feels strange to hear that the £140,000-a-week man did something to get on the wrong side of the German.
If Klavan is right about it being Sunderland, then Milner actually scored a late penalty in that game to hand Liverpool a 2-0 win.
We wonder if the incident happened before the game, or after full-time.
If it was after full-time, you can understand why tensions may have ran high.

While this sounds like a negative story at first, we think it’s great to see two hugely influential figures at Liverpool come to blows.
We’d rather that than have everyone practising their handshakes and taking selfies in the dressing room, with little care for the result.
Clearly, Milner and Klopp care deeply about Liverpool, and are both desperate for success.
It must be noted that, at the time of the alleged fight, the Reds hadn’t won anything under Klopp, so there was obviously a desperation for silverware.
After all, having 77.3% possession and 27 shots against Sunderland, only to score just twice, is enough to make even the calmest player angry.
