Recent reports suggested that Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Almen Abdi is attracting Leeds United’s attention.
According to a report from HITC Sport, Leeds are interested in a surprise move for Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Almen Abdi. But the fact that the 30-year-old’s most recent appearance for the Owls came at Elland Road arguably encapsulates why the Whites should not target him.
Abdi joined Wednesday last summer in a deal that Sky Sports suggested at the time was worth around £4 million.

However, Abdi’s season would be over by the end of February as injury meant that he missed the Championship run-in and Carlos Carvalhal’s side’s play-off campaign.
His last game came in the 1-0 defeat to Leeds in February, and that should arguably act as a warning to Thomas Christiansen and Andrea Radrizzani.
His struggles with injury would surely make a move for the 30-year-old a gamble – especially as Wednesday will surely hold out for a significant fee for a number of reasons: the fact that they would not only be selling to a divisional rival, but also a local rival, as well as the fact that, on his day and when deployed in the right position, Abdi can be a brilliant player.
Leeds currently seem to have more than enough depth in midfield, but their defence undoubtedly needs more strengthening and their striker options could also perhaps do with a boost – so it would surely be wise for the Whites to forget pursuing Abdi and concentrate on more pressing issues within the squad.
