According to the Daily Mail, Ally McCoist is interested in taking the Sunderland job and that could force Glasgow Rangers into making a snap decision over their own post at Ibrox.

McCoist has suggested to The Sun that he would be interested in returning to Rangers, should the opportunity arise.

But Rangers may miss the chance to appoint McCoist, unless they are swift in offering him the job.

McCoist has reportedly announced his interest in the Sunderland job, which has recently become vacant following Simon Grayson’s departure.

Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes is currently the favourite to take over from Pedro Caixinha at Rangers, but McCoist remains a strong candidate.

Some Sunderland fans have been enthused by the potential of McCoist managing them, which adds further strength behind his cause to take over at the Stadium of Light.

And if Rangers are considering putting McCoist in charge, they really need to come to a decision sooner rather than later, otherwise they could miss their chance.
