Ally McCoist says Liverpool are in desperate need to sign Declan Rice in the summer transfer window.

In April, it was revealed by journalist Dean Jones that the West Ham United midfielder is ‘very interested’ in joining Arsenal.

However, Ally McCoist believes Liverpool perhaps need to complete a transfer for Declan Rice far more than Mikel Arteta’s side.

Ally McCoist tells Liverpool to sign Declan Rice at all costs

Branded as ‘world-class’ by Adrian Durham via talkSPORT, the England international really is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League.

Season in, season out, it seems like Rice has only grown from strength to strength and proven that he is indeed the complete package.

As Liverpool are primed for a major summer window in the summer, Ally McCoist has suggested them to put Declan Rice at the top of their transfer wish list.

“Liverpool’s midfield is crying out for Declan Rice. Absolutely crying out”, he said on talkSPORT.

It is fair to claim that not a single soul would agree with the Rangers legend.

HITC View: Rice to Anfield would be the best transfer of the summer

In terms of quantifying just how much a club needs to sign a certain player, if Rice does end up at Anfield, it may well be the best move of the summer.

With Fabinho’s steep decline this season as well, Ally McCoist is right in emphasising that Liverpool are ‘crying out’ for a transfer involving Declan Rice.

This Reds midfield lacks legs and athletically, there aren’t many better than the 24-year-old midfielder.

Furthermore, Rice would provide cover in two positions, as he is not only a brilliant No.6 but is perhaps the best version of himself as a box-to-box midfielder.

Much like in the vein of Alisson Becker and Virgil van Dijk, he could prove to be a transformative signing, if Jurgen Klopp’s side win the race for his signature.
