Rangers manager Steven Gerrard was not a very happy man after his side failed to win against St. Johnstone at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership at the weekend.
The Gers played out a goalless draw with St. Johnstone at Ibrox this past Saturday afternoon, and are now eight points behind leaders and Old Firm rivals Celtic.
After the match, Rangers boss Gerrard said, as quoted on BBC Sport, that his side had no leaders.
Former Rangers manager Ally McCoist seems to agree with Gerrard’s assessment of the squad having no leaders.
McCoist said on the Scottish Football Extra show on BT Sport 1 this past Sunday (11:18am, February 17, 2019): “By all accounts, it was a really poor performance. It was very, very disappointing from Rangers’ point of view.”
The former Rangers boss added: “I am not really sure there are any real leaders.”
Disappointment
Lack of leaders do affect football matches, but the main reason why Rangers could not win against St. Johnstone was that the players did not perform well.
St. Johnstone matched the Rangers, and credit must be given to them for drawing at Ibrox.
Rangers need to bounce back and put together a run of positive results in the Scottish Premiership now.
True, Celtic are eight points clear at the top, but there are still enough games for Rangers to catch them, or at least give them a run for their money.
