Jake Hastie has been superb for Motherwell so far this season, and there is no surprise that Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox club Glasgow Rangers and Neil Lennon’s Celtic are reported to be interested in the winger.

According to a report in The Scottish Sun last month, Rangers, Celtic, Middlesbrough and Hull City are interested in signing Hastie in the summer transfer window when his current contract with Motherwell runs out.

A recent report in The Scottish Sun has claimed that the Gers are poised to sign a pre-contract agreement with the 19-year-old winger, who will reportedly put pen to paper on a four-year contract with Rangers.

Former Motherwell defender Stephen Craigan has given his take on the speculation, and he thinks that Hastie will not be at the club next summer.

Former Rangers manager Ally McCoist believes that Hastie will be a good signing for Steven Gerrard’s side, and he has suggested that the Ibrox club are doing what Celtic have been doing in terms of signing promising young players from Scottish teams.

Craigan said about Hastie on the Scottish Football Extra show on BT Sport 2 last Friday evening (7:11pm, March 8, 2019): “If I am honest, I would be surprised if Jake Hastie was a full-time Motherwell player next season.

“You know, all the speculation coming out, he is a young man with potential, he is a good kid, he is a hard-working kid, he deserves everything he is getting. I just kind of wish he would stay at Motherwell for another season.”

McCoist said on the Scottish Football Extra show on BT Sport 2 last Friday evening (7:11pm, March 8, 2019) when asked if Hastie will be a good signing for Rangers: “I do, absolutely from Rangers’ point of view. Celtic in recent years have understandably gone about making the same method if you like.

“They got Hendry from Dundee, Morgan from St. Mirren, boys like that, Christie as well. I think Rangers have started to do that.”
