Ally McCoist says Marc Roca’s miss during Leeds United’s 1-1 draw against Leicester City on Tuesday night at Elland Road was ‘worse’ than Patrick Bamford’s.
The former Scotland international understands that Patrick Bamford should have been scoring from two yards out, but he thinks, moments before, Marc Roca, should have been putting his header away and it was perhaps a bigger miss.
Javi Gracia’s side, who had conceded 11 goals in their last two home games, saw two big efforts missed during the final moments of yesterday’s match.

Even though the Whites opened the scoring early in the first half, they just couldn’t stop Dean Smith’s men from putting the ball into the back of the net, with Jamie Vardy scoring ten minutes from time.
That’s when Leeds put the pressure back on their relegation rivals, as they chased a much-needed three points.
But whilst Bamford is getting a verbal beating for his missed effort, McCoist explained why Roca’s was worse, as he told talkSPORT Breakfast (26/04/23 at 6:10 am).
“Do you know something, this will be interesting Leeds fans,” said McCoist. “I actually think Roca’s header could be worse, right before it. Where he just heads it off the goalkeeper. It’s up there, I really do.
“Bamford has to score. I know it’s an obvious thing to say, he has just miss-hit it, rather than meet it. He is trying to direct it, rather than let it come off him. He has to be scoring it, by the way.
“But the header, the header, it goes anywhere, it’s a goal. Just head it down.”

TWO POINTS DROPPED
Yes, Leeds didn’t lose to a relegation rival, but this is certainly two points dropped in their quest to survive.
Last season, they had to go to the final day of the season in order to avoid the drop, and at this rate, they might have to go down the same road again.
Either way, it’s not a good look for the powers that be at Elland Road because they made it clear last season that history won’t repeat itself, yet here Leeds find themselves again.
