Ally McCoist said on Sky Sports Football (1:29pm, March 21, 2021) that Celtic left-back Diego Laxalt played well against Steven Gerrard’s Rangers.

Celtic have played out a 1-1 draw with Rangers at Celtic Park in the Old Firm derby this afternoon.

The 28-year-old, who can also operate as a left winger, started at left-back, and his performance in the second half impressed former Rangers manager McCoist.

McCoist said about Laxalt in the 70th minute during his co-commentary duty of the match on Sky Sports Football (1:29pm, March 21, 2021): “You are right, Andy. He has been very bright in the second half, Laxalt. He really has.”

How did Diego Laxalt play against Rangers?

Celtic have had a torrid season, and not many players can say that they have done well on a consistent basis.

The 28-year-old has not had the best season of his career, but he has been one of the better players for Celtic this campaign.

The Uruguay international, signed on loan from AC Milan in the summer of 2020, has made 13 starts and four substitute appearances in the Scottish Premiership for the Hoops so far this season, scoring one goal in the process, according to WhoScored.

The left-back did well at the back against Rangers, and the Milan-owned player also made attacking forays.

According to WhoScored, the left-back took one shot which was not on target, played one key pass, had a pass accuracy of 79%, took 88 touches, attempted two dribbles, made one tackle and one interception, and put in three crosses.
