Ally McCoist claimed during his role as commentator on Viaplay Sport that Ange Postecoglou will not have been happy with Celtic man Carl Starfelt during the League Cup final – as he took a risk with the ball at his feet in his penalty area.
Celtic inflicted Michael Beale’s first defeat as Rangers manager at Hampden on Sunday to win the League Cup. A third trophy for Postecoglou since he took over as Celtic boss. Kyogo scored a brace, taking the Japan star’s tally to 24 goals.
Celtic dominated large parts of the match and were worthy winners. Beale admitted that his side just could not get find their normal rhythm throughout the match. Alfredo Morelos did get one, but the score remained – Celtic, 2-1 winners.
McCoist sat alongside Chris Sutton as co-commentators for Viaplay on Sunday at Hampden. In the first half, with Celtic leading 1-0, Starfelt decided to do a Cruyff turn to go past Morelos – taking a risk. McCoist criticised the £4m defender.

“I’m not sure his manager will be very happy with him playing about with it on the edge of his six-yard box but to be fair, he did get away with it,” McCoist said in the first half on Viaplay sport, during Celtic’s 2-1 win over Rangers.
McCoist: Postecoglou will not have been happy with Celtic man Starfelt
Despite a tricky start to life at Celtic, Sweden star Starfelt has gone on to become a crucial part of this Celtic side. But, realistically, if there is one position Celtic need to improve this summer – it is a centre-back. A replacement for Starfelt.
One to go alongside Cameron Carter-Vickers, who has proven to be one of the best signings of the Postecoglou era. He is one of Celtic’s best players. While Starfelt is improving – there are concerns. He could be replaced in the summer.
