Everton are in the market for a new right back this summer, with PSV Eindhoven star Denzel Dumfries believed to be a top target.

Seamus Coleman is now 33, and Jonjoe Kenny could be on the move this summer. Ben Godfrey and Mason Holgate can fill in there, but another natural option is needed.

A number of options have been suggested, but the favourite appears to be Dumfries, who is currently starring for the Netherlands at Euro 2020.

Everton’s interest in Dumfries

Eindhoven Dagblad report that Marcel Brands is ‘convinced’ about signing Dumfries, and Everton would have to pay just £13million to sign him.

That price tag was stated at the start of June, and it would be no surprise if PSV suddenly bumped up that asking price after his displays at Euro 2020.

Brands has strong ties with PSV which could help Everton’s cause, with other clubs no doubt now targeting him as a potential signing.

McCoist raves about Dumfries

Dumfries scored in the Netherlands’ first two games of Euro 2020, bagging the winner against Ukraine before sealing a 2-0 win over Austria.

The attack-minded right back has been rampaging forward at will this summer, and he almost grabbed himself another goal against North Macedonia on Monday, but was denied at close range.

Pundit Ally McCoist loved what he saw from Dumfries, telling ITV that seeing the 25-year-old go forward and arrive late into the box is ‘actually amazing to watch’ – and we could see that at Everton next season.

“How many times in these opening games have we seen Dumfries arrive at the back post like that?” said McCoist. “He seems to be enjoying that wider role in the five. I think I heard he normally plays in a four at PSV, but he’s certainly getting forward on that right hand side. It’s actually amazing to watch,” he added.
