Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers are set to take on Celtic at the weekend.

Ally McCoist has told BT Sport that he believes Glasgow Rangers’ current injury situation could lead to Celtic adapting their team.

Brendan Rodgers has constantly tinkered with his formation so far this season, which leaves some question marks remaining over his team selection for the Old-Firm derby at Ibrox on Saturday.

And McCoist feels that Rodgers may try and take advantage of Rangers’ injury problems, by adapting the shape of his team to punish the Bhoys’ Glasgow rivals.

Celtic Manager Brendan Rodgers celebrates during the William Hill Scottish Cup Final between Celtic and Aberdeen at Hampden Park on May 27, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

He said: “I think it [what formation Celtic play] will depend greatly on Rangers’ injury situation.

“I think Brendan will look at Rangers injury problems and that might affect his team. In the respect that a back-three, if it’s not done correctly, against better opposition will give you serious problems. That’s why in Europe I don’t think Celtic will go with a back-three, but domestically I think they can go with a back-three against any team in the country.”

Rangers are without a number of key first-team players heading in to the contest, which makes their task of beating Celtic at Ibrox look even tougher.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers looks on during the UEFA Champions League Group B match between Celtic and Paris Saint Germain at Celtic Park on September 12, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Rangers have not beaten Celtic since Rodgers took charge at Parkhead, with the Bhoys dominating Scottish football.

Celtic are already leading the way in the Scottish Premiership table this term, and could build up an eight point gap ahead of Rangers if they are able to be victorious on Saturday.
