Former Ibrox manager Ally McCoist said on BT Sport 3 on Thursday evening (December 13, 2018) during his co-commentary that Rangers defender Borna Barisic played well against Rapid Vienna.

Barisic featured for Rangers in their 1-0 defeat to Rapid Vienna away from home in Austria in Europa League Group G on Thursday evening.

The 26-year-old left-back started the match and played for the entire 90 minutes, as Rangers failed to progress to the knockout rounds of the Europa League this season.

According to WhoScored, the Croatia international left-back – who joined Rangers from Osijek in the summer transfer window for a fee reported by The Daily Mail to be worth £2 million – took one shot, had a pass accuracy of 51.6%, won two headers, and made four interceptions and four clearances.

The match against Rapid Vienna saw Barisic make his first start for Steven Gerrard’s side since September following ground and calf problems, and the performance of the left-back impressed former Ibrox striker and manager McCoist.

McCoist said on BT Sport 3 on Thursday evening (December 13, 2018) in the 82nd minute: “A brilliant ball in again from Barisic, who I have to say has been different class this evening.”
