Former Rangers manager Ally McCoist said on The Debate show on Sky Sports Premier League on Thursday night (10pm, May 9, 2019) that Celtic deserved to win the Scottish Premiership title this season.

McCoist, who played for Rangers in the 1980s and 1990s and managed the Gers from 2011 until 2014, believes that Celtic were the best team in Scotland this season.

The former Scotland international striker has also stated that Rangers need to sign at least three new players in the summer transfer window in order to challenge the Hoops for the league title next season.

McCoist said on The Debate show on Sky Sports Premier League on Thursday night (10pm, May 9, 2019): “It’s a massive, massive summer coming up in terms of the transfer window.

“They have got to strengthen again, and I think they need a minimum of three players to strengthen again, to make a real challenge for Celtic next season. Celtic thoroughly deserved the title and are the best team again this year.”

Closing the gap

Rangers have done better this season than they did during the last campaign, but Celtic have been much better than Steven Gerrard’s side.

Celtic remain the team to beat in Scotland, and the Glasgow giants will be favourites for the Scottish Premiership title next season.

Rangers have a strong squad, but the Gers need to sign better players in the summer transfer window in order to give the Hoops a run for their moment.
