Everton’s Romelu Lukaku celebrates with the matchball and Yannick Bolasie after scoring a hat trick
Pundit Ally McCoist has told BBC Radio Five Live’s Football Daily that he thought Yannick Bolasie was ‘absolutely terrific’ against Sunderland on Monday.
The Toffees had dropped just two points in their first three games of the season, and headed to Wearside in search of another victory – and that’s just what they got.
Ronald Koeman’s side had their moments in the first half, but were superb in the second half as striker Romelu Lukaku hit a hat-trick to make it three wins from four for the Toffees.

Lukaku unsurprisingly stole the headlines with his three goals, whilst many hailed the influence of midfielder Idrissa Gueye – but another player caught the eye at the Stadium of Light.
Winger Yannick Bolasie, who joined the club from Crystal Palace in August, started out on the right hand side against Sunderland, but really thrived when he shifted over the left hand side at half time.

The DR Congo international terrorised Sunderland right back Javi Manquillo throughout the second half, and laid on an inch-perfect cross for Lukaku to head the ball home for his second goal.
Many believed that Everton overpaid for Bolasie given his limited end product at Palace, but he proved his doubters wrong against Sunderland with an excellent performance and strong final ball.
After the game, pundit Ally McCoist told BBC Radio Five Live that he though Bolasie was ‘absolutely terrific’ against Sunderland, whilst praising manager Koeman for bringing on Gerard Deulofeu for Ross Barkley.

“In the second half, there was only one team in it,” said McCoist. “Bolasie was different class, and the substitution of Deulofeu was excellent from Ronald Koeman.”
“I was impressed with Bolasie. Koeman made the change right at the start of the second half to put him out on the left hand side, and from there I thought he was absolutely terrific. If it wasn’t for the hat-trick, I think Bolasie might have been man of the match,” he added.
