Pedro Caixinha is set to be appointed Rangers boss.
Former Rangers manager Ally McCoist
Pedro Caixinha is expected to be confirmed as Rangers boss this week, taking over from interim manager Graeme Murty, SkySports report.
One of his predecessors, Ally McCoist, has been giving his view on the Portuguese manager.
McCoist admits openly to knowing very little about Caixinha, but questions whether he is the right man for the job, stating that his CV is not what he would expect.
He told The Telegraph: “I really don’t know about him and I say that safe in the knowledge that it’s the same for 98% of Rangers supporters.
“He’s done his coaching badges in Scotland and I’ve seen Alan Stubbs praising him, but his CV is not what you’d expect for Rangers.
Caixinha will join from Qatari club Al Gharafa, and has managed previously in Mexico and Portugal.
The Gers are clearly thinking outside the box, and this should be commended. Time will tell whether it is a huge folly, or an inspired decision.
With a cup semi final against Celtic coming up, Caixinha could become an instant hero, and win over his doubters, who are right to question at this point whether he can successfully make the transition to coaching in Scotland.
