Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney is reportedly on Arsenal’s radar.
Tierney is one of the best left-backs in Europe and has been linked with a move away from Celtic.
According to The Guardian, Arsenal in the Premier League are interested in signing the Scotland international defender from the Hoops in the summer transfer window.
Celtic value the 22-year-old at £25 million, but Arsenal think that they can secure the services of the youngster for £18m, according to the report.
Former Rangers striker and manager McCoist has given his take on the future of Tierney.
McCoist said about Tierney on The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Monday (9:25am, June 24, 2019): “Great talent. I thought he might have stayed another two or three years at Celtic and then maybe move south. He is a serious talent, and Celtic should get a lot of money for him.”
A number of other football figures have also given their take on the future of Tierney.
James McFadden, as quoted in The Scottish Sun: “Kieran Tierney is Celtic daft, so it’ll take something phenomenal for him to consider it, and also for Celtic to consider it.”
Owen Coyle told The Scottish Sun: “I watch a lot of Premier League football and Kieran could play for any team in the league. I truly believe that. He is capable of going into the Man City team — that’s how good he is.”
Peter Grant told The Scottish Sun: “Yes, Kieran could stay at Celtic for the rest of his days and live a very comfortable life. But who could blame him for wanting to go and play with a top club in the Premier League?”
Leaving Celtic
Tierney is one of the best and most young left-backs in Europe, and Arsenal would get a player who could become of the best in his position in years to come.
Celtic should not sell the 22-year-old on the cheap, as they do not have any need to cash in on him, and the left-back himself is unlikely to force through a move.
