Ally McCoist has advice for Celtic manager Neil Lennon.
The former Rangers striker and manager believes that Lennon just needs to get positive results, and that will do the talking for him.
Lennon recently hit out at some Celtic fans who have been criticising the team’s style of football and performances, especially in the wake of the defeat to Rangers away from home Ibrox in the Old Firm derby last weekend, as quoted in The Scotsman.
McCoist said regarding Lennon on the Scottish Football Extra show on BT Sport 1 on Saturday morning (11:56am, May 18, 2019): “As regards to fans, listen, Neil’s well entitled to his opinion.
“You have got to be very careful when you take on the fans, because it’s very seldom when you take on the fans, you win the battle against the fans. If I was Neil, I would just let my results do the talking, and they have been fine.”
Future at Celtic?
Lennon was appointed the Celtic manager in February 2019 following the departure of Brendan Rodgers to Leicester City in the Premier League.
The 47-year-old was appointed the role until the end of the season, and it remains to be seen if he is given the job full time.
Lennon was hugely successful during his first spell as the Celtic manager, and he is a safe pair of hands who can steer the Hoops to their ninth and tenth successive Scottish Premiership title in their next two years.
