Ally McCoist has blasted Rangers trio Alfredo Morelos, Malik Tillman and Ryan Kent for being lazy in the first 10 minutes at Ibrox, as Rangers and Celtic played out an enthralling 2-2 draw – which saw Celtic equalise late on.

In an incredible game, Rangers desperately needed to avoid defeat to keep the Premiership title race alive – and really, needed to win. It looked as though they might do, going into the last few minutes. Daizen Maeda gave Celtic the lead.

Capitalising on two mistakes from Alfredo Morelos and James Tavernier, Maeda scored. But immediately after the restart, Rangers were 2-1 up. Ryan Kent got an equaliser with a sublime finish – before Tavernier scored a penalty.

But with only a few minutes left on the clock, Celtic made it 2-2 – Kyogo Furuhashi netting late on. A game that swung both sides and could have gone either way, but probably a fair result. McCoist was not impressed early on in the game.

With the ball being played back to Allan McGregor, the goalkeeper went long. But the Celtic defence were untested to clear on eight minutes, with Tillman, Morelos and Kent still trudging back from an offside position. McCoist, not happy.

“Tell you what, that’s lazy. Very, very lazy. Tillman, Kent, Morelos. The ball goes back to McGregor and they’re all offside. You have to get back up with play,” McCoist said in his role as co-commentator during Sky Sports coverage.

It was not a good look. You can excuse one of the attackers for failing to get back onside, but for all three to do it so early on was poor. Rangers look flustered after Maeda’s opener, and this was the perfect example of that.

However, they rallied and ultimately, were unlucky not to make it five wins from five under Michael Beale. The title race remains alive – albeit by the barest of margins. Celtic stay nine clear, with only one Old Firm game still to play.
