Ally McCoist and Mark Bosnich have lauded the Aston Villa supporters after they played their part in their promotion to the Premier League.

Former striker McCoist, who was at Wembley on Monday, stated that ‘you just forget’ how big Aston Villa are and he expressed his amazement at how well they were supported for the play-off final showdown against Derby.

Dean Smith’s side will be playing Premier League football next term after they beat the Rams 2-1 at the home of football, with the fans clearly jubilant of the win on the day.

Speaking on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast Show on TalkSport (28/05/2019 at 8:15 am), former Scotland striker McCoist and former Villa goalkeeper Bonich spoke about the Villa supporters.

“I wouldn’t say it surprised me, but I thought both sets of supporters were fantastic,” McCoist told TalkSport. “But after the final whistle, I was looking around, the Aston Villa support, you just forget the size of the club and the massiveness. The support was incredible.

“It was,” Bosnich replied. “I was very fortunate to win two trophies at Wembley with Aston Villa and they were exactly in the same part of that stadium on that right-hand side.

“They are a massive club. They have won the European Cup. And they played their part. They have played their part all season and will play their part next season.”

Villa will now turn their attention to the Premier League and proving their worth with the big boys once again as the up and coming summer will be very crucial.

Now, Villa are in England’s top-flight, they will want to keep hold of their loan players and will no doubt target a higher calibre of player to join the club.

Added with that, key man Jack Grealish, who led his boyhood club out at Wembley, will be able to do the same in the Premier League next season.
