Allegri set for Juventus job, but fans don’t want him

Former AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri is about to take the Juventus bench, but he doesn’t appear to be a popular choice with fans.

Juventus are looking for a new coach after the sudden exit of Antonio Conte and Massimiliano Allegri is set to be unveiled to the dismay of many fans.

Conte was a popular figure with Juventus supporters after delivering three consecutive Italian titles and there has been shock and anger at his exit.

The Bianconeri boss had appeared to commit for next season, but disagreements over transfer policy proved impossible to resolve.

Now Juventus must find a new man quickly in order to give the coach enough time to settle in before the action starts.

Ex-Manchester City man Roberto Mancini and former Roma and Zenit Saint-Petersburg boss Luciano Spalletti have been linked with the vacant bench, but Max Allegri is on the verge of being handed the reins.

Allegri led Milan to the Scudetto in 2010-11, which was their first Serie A title since 2004, but things went downhill afterwards.

The former Cagliari man was sacked by Milan halfway through last season with his team languishing in mid-table and relationships with players fraught.

According to reports in Italy, Juventus fans wouldn’t be delighted to see Allegri arrive even though he is currently in meetings with the club and could be about to sign a two-year deal.

Groups of fans gathered at Juventus headquarters have reportedly been singing anti-Allegri songs and there is a suggestion that fan power could be a factor.

Fans protests managed to prevent Inter selling star midfielder Fredy Guarin to Juventus in January and the Old Lady may reconsider Allegri if they risk ostracising too many supporters.
