Allardyce’s Everton already level on points with Marco Silva

Sam Allardyce is unbeaten so far as Everton manager.

Sam Allardyce has turned things around quickly since arriving at Everton at the end of November.

He’s picked up seven points from a possible nine, beating Huddersfield and Newcastle and drawing at Anfield against Liverpool.

Everton had chased Watford’s Marco Silva but when it became clear they weren’t going to get him, they turned to ‘Big Sam.’

Before Allardyce’s first game in charge, Everton were 13th and Watford were eighth, six points ahead of the Toffees but Everton have already caught up.

The momentum and confidence is with Everton at the moment. They’re unbeaten in five games in all competitions while Watford have picked up just one point from their last four games.

In fact, Silva’s team have lost six of their last nine which is more like relegation form, which is what Silva suffered with Hull City.

‘Big Sam’ has had European Campaigns with Bolton Wanderers and top ten finishes with West Ham and Blackburn Rovers. He’s got a reputation for keeping teams up and being a defensive manager. Although he is a survival specialist, he’s proven that he can get teams challenging for Europe.

Watford and Everton are ninth and tenth respectively and it’s looking like they as well as Burnley and Leicester City are fighting for seventh place.

Out of the two, Everton now look the better equipped. They have an experienced manager and they also have a stronger squad (on paper) than Watford.

Gylfi Sigurdsson is starting to repay his £45m fee while Wayne Rooney is on a scoring run. Allardyce has made some shrewd January signings in the past and if he can get a striker to help Rooney, he’ll be more than capable of firing Everton to Europe and proving to be the better option over Silva.
