Allardyce’s £6m Everton wages higher than Simeone’s and Pochettino’s

Sam Allardyce will be paid more each year at Everton than Mauricio Pochettino earns at Tottenham and Diego Simeone picks up at Atletico Madrid.

Sam Allardyce is on the verge of being named Everton’s new manager with his representatives in discussion with the club’s majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri, according to the Daily Mail.

Allardyce will sign a contract at Goodison Park that will see the 63-year-old earn around £6m annually, a wage that will put the Englishman ahead of some of the coaching elite across Europe.

For example, talkSPORT reports that Mauricio Pochettino – who has guided Tottenham Hotspur to third and second in the Premier League over the past two seasons – is paid £5.46m a year.

The Argentine was given a new deal by Spurs following the 2015/16 campaign when they were the only team competing with Leicester City for the title.

Perhaps more shockingly, though, is the fact that Allardyce will take home more money per annum than Diego Simeone does at Atletico Madrid, with the Telegraph reporting the 47-year-old earns £5.1m a year on a contract he extended in September.

This is despite the fact Simeone has won the Argentine Primera Division twice with two different clubs and five major trophies with Atleti; including La Liga and the Europa League and also reaching the Champions League final on two separate occasions.

In comparison, the highest honour Allardyce has ever won is the old Third Division title, which he achieved with Notts County back in 1998.
