The cost of Everton hiring Sam Allardyce as their next manager or poaching Sean Dyche from Burnley.
Sam Allardyce shows appreciation to the fans after the Premier League match between Crystal Palace and Hull City.
Despite not having a club currently the Independent reports that appointing Sam Allardyce as their new manager would cost Everton £2m.
Well that is assuming that the Toffees would agree to pay the £2m payment Crystal Palace would be owed should Allardyce take the job.
Sam Allardyce and Sean Dyche on the touchline during the Barclays Premier League match between West Ham United and Burnley.
That is because part of the terms of the 63-year-old’s severance when he left his position at Selhurst Park in May stated that the Eagles would be paid should the former England boss take another managerial job before July 2018. That sum is reduced from £2m in January.
Allardyce is currently the 7/2 second favourite with Skybet to succeed Ronald Koeman at Goodison Park behind Burnley chief Sean Dyche.
Now, if the Merseysiders were to approach Dyche – something which Sky Sports reports will happen in the next 24 hours – then it would cost the club £2.5m.
Sean Dyche looks on prior to the Premier League match between Burnley and Newcastle United at Turf Moor.
That is what the Daily Mail reported earlier this month, in any case, back when the 46-year-old was being linked with the then vacant Leicester City position. Apparently £2.5m is the compensation terms included in the new deal Dyche signed at Turf Moor earlier this year.
However, neither of these fees should trouble major shareholder Farhad Moshiri, especially considering the businessman sanctioned £5m to be paid in compensation to Southampton when Koeman was hired back in 2016, as reported by the Guardian at the time.
