Everton are likely to be active in January, with just over a fortnight until the window opens.
Everton manager Sam Allardyce has told TalkSPORT that he and Toffees owner Farhad Moshiri will sit down for talks over January transfer targets this week.
The Toffees are likely to be busy in the January transfer window following Allardyce’s appointment as manager, with a striker and a centre-back likely to be at the top of the Toffees agenda in January.
Moshiri shows his spending power in the summer by bringing in big-money signings such as Jordan Pickford, Michael Keane, Davy Klaassen and club-record transfer Gylfi Sigurdsson for £45million.
Former England manager Allardyce told TalkSPORT presenter Jim White that he and Moshiri will meet this week to discuss bringing in “one of two” targets, as well as saying a couple of players could leave Goodison Park.
“We’ll probably be doing that at some stage today [Thursday] or tomorrow [Friday],” Allardyce said. “With us not playing until Monday, there will be a conversation between a few of us regarding one or two targets.
“Maybe at some stage we’ll talk about lightening the squad too, because this is a big squad of players at the moment and one or two players may consider their future lies elsewhere.”
Everton earned a third win in four Premier League matches on Wednesday night with a narrow 1-0 win away at Newcastle United, thanks to Wayne Rooney close-range striker after Aaron Lennon’s header was spilled by goalkeeper Karl Darlow.
It sees the Toffees remain in tenth place in the Premier League, as they have the chance of climbing to ninth place on Monday night as they play host to struggling Swansea City at Goodison Park.
