Toffees boss Sam Allardyce spoke to reporters in the aftermath of his side’s fine 2-0 win over Huddersfield Town today, and shed some light on how specific instructions he gave to two of his players during the half-time break directly led to their first goal, as quoted by NBC Sports.
Everton climbed up to 10th in the Premier League table with their victory against the Terriers, and things are starting to look a whole lot rosier at Goodison Park with Big Sam now at the helm.
Allardyce has forged a reputation during his time in football management of making an instant impact whichever club he has taken charge of, and it seems as though he has already lived up to that reputation on Merseyside.

The 63-year-old addressed the media following his side’s win over David Wagner’s men, and offered an insight into the dressing room team-talk he gave his players, as quoted by NBC Sports:

“I had some work to do tactically at half time, mainly on Sigurdsson and Lennon not running too far back. I have to say, it got us the first goal. Sigurdsson was further up the pitch than he would have been. It was something we really needed.”
Next up for Everton is their Europa league dead rubber match against Apollon Limassol before they travel to Anfield for the Merseyside Derby the following Sunday, and what Allardyce wouldn’t give for a pair of wins.
