Wayne Rooney is reportedly set to leave Everton for DC United in the summer transfer window.
According to The Mirror, former Manchester United star Rooney to set to leave Everton for Major League Soccer side DC United in the summer transfer window.
It has been reported that the former England international, who can operate as a forward or as a midfielder, has an agreement with the MLS outfit in principle on a three-year contract.
Former Everton and England manager Allardyce is not surprised that the 32-year-old is leaving the Toffees.
Allardyce said when asked on The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Tuesday morning (8:53am, June 12, 2018) when asked if he is surprised at Rooney’s imminent move to MLS: “No. I think that obviously they had to sort out what the situation was with him, and I think that in the end Wayne decided to have a chat with the owners, and they all came to an agreement that it was the right thing to do for both parties.”
Good move?
Rooney did well for Everton during the 2017-18 season, as the former United star scored 10 goals and provided two assists in 27 Premier League starts for the Toffees.
The 32-year-old did not always have a great impact on matches, but there were players who performed bad worse than he did.
Rooney is still good enough to carry on playing in the Premier League for a few more years at least.
