Things are beginning to look a lot brighter at Everton.
Toffees boss Sam Allardyce spoke to reporters in the aftermath of his side’s fine 2-0 win at home to Huddersfield Town on Saturday, and responded to a question asking him how high his side can finish in the Premier League this season, as quoted by the club’s official website.
Everton climbed to 10th position in the table following their win over the Terriers, and are seven points adrift of seventh placed Burnley, but there is genuine optimism emanating from Goodison Park for arguably the first time this season.
Allardyce seems to have already made an impact on the Merseyside outfit, and with the 63-year-old now at the helm, Blues fans will be hoping that their side can emulate last season’s top seven finish.

The former England, West Ham and Newcastle boss addressed the media following his side’s win on Saturday, and shared how far he believes he can take the Toffees this season, as quoted by EvertonFC.com:
“I knew how good a football club it was before I took the job so I’ve got to live up to that standard, make the team better if I can and get them back to where they were last season as quickly as possible. I don’t know how long that will take but I will try my very best to achieve the sort of season Everton had last season, if not better.”
Next up for Everton is their dead rubber Europa League group game against Apollon Limassol on Thursday night before they travel to Anfield for the Merseyside Derby the following Sunday.
And Allardyce will surely rest his key men in midweek, in an effort to ensure that he has a full compliment of players to choose from for the clash with Liverpool.
