Sunderland could be without the French midfielder for their next match.
Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce has been speaking to reporters ahead of his side’s Premier League clash with Liverpool, with his comments later posted online by the Black Cats’ Twitter account.
Sunderland put in a fine display against Manchester City during the week but it was not enough to prevent a 1-0 defeat.
That loss means Allardyce’s side are 19th in the table, four points below the safety that 17th place would bring at the end of the campaign.
Sunderland’s next match is against a Liverpool side that has blown hot and cold since Jurgen Klopp took charge, but they will have travel to Anfield with doubts regarding midfielder Yann M’Vila.
“The only injury that we have is Seb Larsson, he’s our long-term injury,” Allardyce said. “And Yann M’Vila on that last, quite nasty tackle by (Sergio) Aguero catching, well, I’m not sure it’s a nasty tackle but Yann caught the bottom of his boot so he’s got bruising.
“So he hasn’t trained at all today, so we’ll have to wait awhile to see if he’s fit for Saturday.”
M’Vila has featured 26 times for Sunderland so far this season, playing a vital role in the centre of the field, so Allardyce will be crossing his fingers that he can call on the Frenchman this weekend.
