Newcastle United snapped up forward Allan Saint-Maximin on Friday.

Newcastle United completed the long-awaited signing of attacker Allan Saint-Maximin on Friday, bringing the Nice winger to St James’ Park.
The 22-year-old had been on the Newcastle radar for some time, even stretching back to December, and after weeks of new speculation, he finally completed his move to Tyneside.
Saint-Maximin made his home debut on Saturday, coming on as a substitute to help Newcastle beat his former club Saint-Etienne 2-1 at home, with the Frenchman playing a role in Matty Longstaff’s winner.
Newcastle will now be hoping to see Saint-Maximin finally fulfil his potential in the Premier League, as he’s somewhat flattered to deceive in France of late.
He made an exciting start at least, and may well play a role up front for Steve Bruce, alongside fellow new signing Joelinton.
Saint-Maximin is busy getting ready for this weekend’s opening game of the season against Arsenal, and whilst it’s unclear whether he’ll start, he’s at least settling in well.
He took to Twitter on Monday to post a photo alongside Newcastle teammate Rolando Aarons, claiming that Aarons ‘loves him’ already, suggesting that he’s already struck up a strong relationship with the winger.
Whether the duo will ever take to the pitch together is unclear, as Aarons may not have a big role to play despite featuring for Bruce at Sheffield Wednesday last season.
Aarons is down the pecking order, and even further down now Saint-Maximin has arrived, but Saint-Maximin is at least forming bonds quickly at Newcastle, which can only bode well.
