Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor has told the club’s official website that he thinks Robby McCrorie will have a strong season.

McCrorie, 22, has come up through the ranks at Rangers, but has yet to make his first-team debut for the club.

He spent the first half of last season on loan at Queen of the South, but his impressive displays saw him step up with a loan move to Livingston.

More strong performances meant Livingston wanted McCrorie back, and they have secured him for the 2020-21 season.

McCrorie is scheduled to return to Rangers next summer, when he will be hoping to push for playing time at Ibrox.

He currently has two veteran goalkeepers ahead of him in McGregor and new signing Jon McLaughlin, but Rangers will hope that McCrorie is the long-term answer.

Now, McGregor has admitted that he thought ‘he looks decent’ when he first saw McCrorie in training, and predicted he will do ‘really well’ this season as he looks to impress again with Livi.

“I am sure he will do really well this season,” said McGregor. “I remember my first training session with him, and I thought, ‘he looks decent’, and he has just kept slowly progressing and progressing, and it is good he is going out to get these games,” he added.
