Allan will finally play a competetive game on Merseyside as Apollon Limassol travel to Goodison Park to take on Everton.
There is a genuine possibility that Allan de Souza may never play a game for Liverpool. Since arriving at Anfield from Brazilian side Internacional for £500,000 two years ago (The Mirror), the midfielder has embarked on four loan spells in four different countries.
However, now at Cypriot outfit Apollon Limassol after spells with SJK, Sint-Truiden and Hertha Berlin, Allan still has the chance to make a positive impression on Liverpool supporters – by turning Everton’s disappointing Europa League start into a full-blown disaster.
According to The Mirror, Liverpool sent the Brazil Under-20 international to Cyprus as he awaits the work permit that would allow him to feature in England from next summer onwards. And the defensive midfielder may finally get the chance to play on Merseyside as Ronald Koeman’s Everton welcome Apollon to Goodison Park on Thursday.
After being outclassed by a free-flowing Atalanta in the opening game, going down 3-0 in a nightmare first-half performance in Italy, The Toffees cannot afford another slip up – especially at home to the weakest side in a group also containing last season’s semi-finalists Lyon.
However, Allan, if he starts, could be integral to Apollon’s chances to grabbing a famous result with Everton likely to pin their hopes on the creative talents of playmakers Gylfi Sigurdsson and Davy Klaassen (below), both of whom are looking to kick-start their careers in Everton blue.
With Liverpool likely to be watching, Allan will aim to make a lasting impression ahead of what he hopes will be a bright future on Merseyside.
